Hunter Scott (Co-Artistic Director) has been acting and painting sets since his mom forced him to walk out onstage as a snowflake in The Wizard of Oz in 1st Grade, but at GW he found his home at Generic Theater Company. He still acts of course, in shows such as The Lion in Winter and A Clockwork Orange, and paints, usually with his fingers. Other things Hunter enjoys are cooking, drumming, and The Wire, but most of the time he’s too busy either working or reading sociology and urban homelessness theory (and devoting time to Generic, of course!). Hunter is most excited to be AD next year so he can spread the good news Gospel of finger painting – oh, and intellectual, brilliant theater – to new Genericans.
Rachel Matusewicz (Co-Artistic Director) battled between making this bio legit for potential employers and just saying stuff. Well, to get the best of both worlds…She is a senior double-majoring in history and poli-sci and minoring in theater. She is ecstatic to be devoting her life and time to Generic and theater in general. Her acting career has consisted of Eleanor in The Lion in Winter and Nurse Ratched in One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, among others. She loves dogs. Her favorite flower is hyacinth. She fully believes winter should end after Christmas. As Shakespeare famously said, “All the world’s a stage, so actors should get the best jobs.” She hopes he’s right.
Joseph Caldwell (Co-EP) is a sophomore from upstate NY, majoring in International Affairs and minoring in Public Health. He is so excited to be on the board of Generic for another year. Last year he was an assistant AD, stage manged Generic’s production of Wit, and was in Freshman Showcase. #proudgenericanforlife
Evie Smith (Assistant EP) is a sophomore with big aspirations but no direction. Her Generic experience includes last year’s Freshman Showcase and production of Wit. She’s obsessed with Chipotle and Shania Twain.
Steph Connor (Assistant TD) is a junior majoring in Psychology with a double minor in Biology and Theatre. She’s 5’8″, loves postering, and is personally responsible for the influence of any and all poor choices. When she’s not in blacks sleeping in the downstage, she’s dancing with Balance or pretending to be a Kit Kat Girl. Literally. That’s all she does.
Kris Zeldes (Assistant PR) is a senior psych major and theater minor. Her acting debut was in Cinderella as a fairy at age 6, and she has been theater obsessed ever since. At GW she was in Generic’s 2010 Freshman Showcase and A Streetcar Named Desire. She also did costumes (aka online shopping and painting whale boxers) for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, W;t, and Show of a Lifetime last spring. When she is not doing theater she can be found nannying, teaching dance classes with Tippi Toes and/or obsessing over adorable babies (which may sound sort of creepy, but she has yet to kidnap a child, so it’s fine). She is so stoked to be working with Generic this year and is sure that we are going to have an amazing season!!
Lianna Havel (STC Liaison) is a senior majoring in Political Communication and double minoring in Peace Studies and Film. He Said and She Said that STC Liaison is the hardest job ever, and Lianna doesn’t Doubt it. It’ll still PRobably be loads of fun, though! Lianna very much looks forward to finishing her senior year with the Generic family she has come to love over the past four years.
